The ancient Greeks believed that everything was made up of four elements: earth, water, air, and fire. In this series of classes we’ll examine the elements as written about by poets including Pablo Neruda, Mary Oliver, Robert Frost, Gerard Manley Hopkins, Charles Bukowski, Jane Kenyon and John Donne. Finding inspiration from these masters, participants will have time to write in each session. Does your poetry need more fire perhaps? Or maybe more earth to make physical the ideas you are writing about? Too watery? Not enough air? We’ll explore these questions together and allow time to edit and revise our poems.
